Dan Byrne-McCullough:
Hello internet,
So I grew up like any normal child with an unhealthy (healthy!) amount of time playing video games. When I was younger I was sure I wanted to do something involving computers, and video games. Then when I hit 13, I picked up a guitar and was sure I wanted to do something involving music. Then I hit 21 and was making music for video games. When I look at it like that it makes me realise that I’m a pretty lucky guy!
The reception of mine and Chris’ first attempt at video game music (iji) was so positive, that it really gave us the fuel we needed to make something more of what was (then), a side project to music study. I’m blown away time and again by the Indie game community, and feel like it is a really great creative space, full of kind and helpful artists always willing to share their experience, knowledge, and work – To be a part of that is something pretty special indeed!
When I’m not at the computer, I love listening to anything from Jazz & Rock, to Hip-hop and Dance music. Music has always been there, and it is the single-most rewarding pursuit I’ve yet come across – I hope some day I am able to spread the joy and love that I have for it through my own work, be that in video game music, or playing live. Sounds cheesy? Maybe, but it’s true, and for all the people who get any enjoyment from listening to our music, or reading our words, or looking at pictures of our stupid faces: Thank you.
