Kevin Carville:

Hello!

Music has always been a massive part of my life. I come from a very musical family, which has placed it deep in my brain that this is something I have to be involved with. I actually like to regard myself very lucky to be able to bring my hobby and my work into the same space. I started playing guitar and bass when I was 15, although in that first year I definitely swayed towards bass. This really opened up doors for me musically, I began to research music with very creative rhythm sections and this helped me develop my own style. I’ve been playin’ in bands ever since!

Currently, I work in a City & Guilds educational studio. I help people from my local community build skills in everything from music production, recording, to cabling, routing, hardware and software. Through my time there I have met many inspirational people. I have found a love for recording, working with massive rooms, tiny spaces, strange instruments and new people. The greatest thing about it is that it’s never the same, every recording is a challenge and there is no greater feeling than when you really nail a take!

My gaming backround dates back to my Sega Mega Drive (probably my favourite console ever). ‘Alex the Kid’ got played to death! When I was a bit older I got a SNES; this is where things really opened up! Mega Man X, Mario All Stars, Super Turrican, Street Fighter 2, Mystic Quest, STAR FOX, Desert Strike, Doom, Jurasic Park… the list goes on! I even had the bazooka light gun! I then upgraded over the years, playstations, xboxes etc, and now I’m completely hooked to my PC.

Music and sound work for games seems to have been such a natural step. It’s great that I can work on these projects with my friends Dan & Chris for a living. We have been collaborating for a years, helping each other on so many of the projects we’ve have all undertaken. It’s really awesome to see how far things have come in these last few years. Now that I’m part of the team I know things are only gonna keep getting better!
